Utilitarianism is a form of consequentialism, which states how the consequences of any action would be the only standard involving right and completely wrong. This view could be contrasted or along with virtue ethics which usually holds virtue as being a moral good. Utilitarianism is a theory in normative ethics holding how the best moral action is one that maximizes utility. Utility is defined in numerous ways, but is usually related to the actual well-being of sentient organisations.
