Libertarian Municipalism

Libertarian municipalism uses the strategy of dual power to produce a situation in which two powers—the municipal confederations plus the nation-state—cannot coexist. Libertarian municipalism is a political program put together by libertarian socialist theorist Murray Bookchin, to make democratic citizens’ assemblies within towns and downtown neighborhoods. The assemblies within these free cities join together to switch the state with a directly democratic confederation.
