Tax resistance is a kind of direct action in case in violation of the tax regulations, a kind of civil disobedience. Examples of tax resistance campaigns include those suggesting home rule, such as Salt March brought about by Mahatma Gandhi, the ones promoting women’s suffrage, such as Women’s Tax Resistance League. Tax resisters are distinct from tax protesters who deny that the legal obligation to pay taxes exists or applies.
