Employment discrimination pertains to the different treatment of two similarly qualified individuals out of their gender, ethnic background, age, disability, faith, etc. Discrimination is harmful because it affects the economical outcomes of similarly productive workers specifically and indirectly by feedback effects. Earnings differentials or occupational differentiation is not in and of itself evidence of employment discrimination.
