The 49-inch Odyssey OLED G9 DQHD Gaming Monitor from Samsung is now Available for Preorder for $2,200

The ultrawide gaming monitor industry has flourished in recent years, and Samsung is capitalizing on the trend with the arrival of the 49-inch Odyssey OLED G9. Not only does Samsung use OLED technology, which is renowned for its deep blacks and vibrant colors, but it also employs the unusual Dual Quad HD resolution (5120 x 1440). This gives a 32:9 aspect ratio and enough horizontal real estate for viewing numerous documents side by side.

However, the Odyssey OLED G9 is primarily designed for gaming, as evidenced by its 0.03ms reaction time (gray-to-gray) and 240Hz refresh rate with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro support. The Odyssey OLED G9, as expected, incorporates Samsung’s Quantum Dot technology, which results in a richer color palette and greater brightness than what standard OLED screens are capable of.

The Odyssey OLED G9 is also DisplayHDR True Black 400 certified, according to Samsung, however, the typical brightness is 250 nits. This is a curved panel, as is characteristic of these enormous ultrawide displays, to help slightly wrap the content around your periphery. It’s a 1800R curve in this example.

In terms of connectivity, the Odyssey OLED G9 comes with two HDMI 2.1 connectors (one full-size and one mini) and a single DisplayPort 1.4 connection from Samsung. A USB hub is also included for organizing your peripherals. Other features include dual 5-watt speakers, CoreSync, and Core Lightning+ for those RGB enthusiasts.

Another important feature of the display is the Samsung Gaming Hub, which provides direct access from the monitor to game streaming services such as Nvidia GeForce Now and Xbox Game Pass via integrated Wi-Fi.

The Odyssey OLED G9 is now available for preorder from Samsung, with Best Buy offering it for $2,199. Preorders will be available on June 26th, according to Best Buy. Of course, Samsung sells the monitor directly, and from now through June 25th, it is offering a $250 electronic gift card with each preorder.
