Anxiety about radiation, sometimes called radiophobia or perhaps radiation hysteria, is a common social trend. Ionizing radiation is obviously not healthy in large doses, and in most situations there are generally legitimate reasons to be afraid of it. However, the level involving angst it generates can be an overreaction and in some cases ends up as a bigger problem in comparison with radiation exposure by itself.
