Spinal stenosis is the contraction of spaces in the spine which causes pressure on the spinal cord and nerves. About seventy five percent of cases of spinal stenosis happen in the low back. In the majority cases, the narrowing of the spine connected with stenosis compresses the nerve root, which can cause pain along the back of the leg.
