The general objective of this article is to know about excess acidity. An excess of acid is called acidosis or acidaemia and an excess in bases is called alkalosis or alkalemia. The progression that causes the inequity is classified based on the etiology of the disturbance and the direction of change in pH. This yields the following four basic processes such as metabolic acidosis, respiratory acidosis, metabolic alkalosis and respiratory alkalosis.
