Lactose is digested in the tiny intestine by an enzyme called lactase. This enzyme permits the body to smash down the lactose into two easy sugars, glucose and galactose. These are rapidly engrossed by the intestine and give power for the body. The rank of the lactase enzyme varies among individuals, as does the cruelty of symptoms caused by lactose bigotry.
