A magnetosphere is the region of space surrounding an astronomical object where charged particles are controlled by that object’s magnetic discipline. Near the surface of several astronomical objects, the magnetic discipline resembles that of a dipole. Farther clear of the surface, the field lines can be significantly distorted through the flow of electrically doing plasma emitted from a nearby star.
