There are a few branches of mathematical physics, and these generally relate to specific recorded periods. The Journal of Mathematical Physics characterizes the field as “the utilization of arithmetic to issues in material science and the improvement of numerical routines suitable for such applications and for the detailing of physical hypotheses”. It is a branch of connected applied arithmetic.
