Nitriding Definition

Nitriding is a highly specialized surface hardening treatment that produces a thin but high hardness case on a wide variety of steels. Nitriding was utilized to generate unique duplex microstructure, regarded as associated with highly enhanced mechanical attributes. Typical applications contain gears, crankshafts, camshafts, cam followers, valve areas, extruder screws, forging dies, extrusion passes away, firearm components, injectors and plastic-mold tools.
