The Solar System and Beyond the Moon

Basic purpose of this lecture is to present on the Solar System and Beyond the Moon. The moon is a “natural satellite”. A satellite is anything the orbits the earth. Artificial satellites have four main uses: Communications; Monitoring the weather; Observing the Earth and Exploring the solar system. A solar system refers to a star and all the objects that travel in orbit around it. Our solar system consists of the sun – our star – eight planets and their natural satellites (such as our moon); dwarf planets; asteroids and comets.
