Executive Functions refers to the higher-level cognitive skills use to control and coordinate other cognitive abilities and behaviors. It is brain-based cognitive skills that facilitate critical thinking and self-regulation. It is gradually develop and change across the lifespan of an individual and can be improved at any time over the course of a person’s life. It can be divided into organizational and regulatory abilities. Executive functions also involves gathering data from several sources and synthesizing the information to look for trends and patterns across time and setting.
