Psychopathology

Psychopathology simply refers to the study of psychological and behavioral dysfunction occurring in mental disorder or in social disorganization. It is the scientific study of mental disorders, including efforts to understand their genetic, biological, psychological, and social causes; effective classification schemes (nosology); course across all stages of development; manifestations; and treatment. It may be involved in many different specialties. It also be used to denote behaviors or experiences which are indicative of mental illness, even if they do not constitute a formal diagnosis.
