Social loafing describes the concept that people are prone to exert less effort with a task if they’re in a group versus once they work alone. The idea of in groups is typically seen so as to improve the accomplishment of any task by pooling the abilities and talents from the individuals in that group. But, in most groups, there is a tendency for participants to contribute less towards the group’s goal than if they were doing the same task themselves.
