Confessional Statement of Accused Under Bangladesh Evidence

The actual Confessional Statement of Accused Under Bangladesh Evidence, not being a mere statement of the occurrence, is the direct and specific admission from the guilt or admission, throughout substance, of all the important points constituting the offence, manufactured by the confessing accused voluntarily giving an accurate statement of the incident implicating himself, sometimes additional co-accused, as being involved in commission of the offence. A self-exculpatory statement or, a statement that maker denies his guilt is no confession. Confessional statement alone can form the basis of conviction against it is maker and, in appropriate cases, it lends assurance towards other substantive evidence because against other co-accused tried jointly for that same offence. Confessional statements are of two kinds- Judicial Confession and Extra-Judicial Confession.
