A Spider Inspire a King

A Spider Inspire a King

Once there lived a good king in Scotland. His name was Robert Bruce. He loves his country and his subjects very dearly. His subjects had also great love and respect for him. One day his enemies attacked his country and drove him away from his kingdom. He took shelter in a remote cave. The king was always in a pensive mood for his unhappy condition. Being a king, he was used to kingly amenities in his palace. There was not the least hope of that luxurious life at his present residence. But that did not cause him much mental suffering. His worst agonies were the facts of being driven out of his beloved kingdom and the king suffering of his people by his enemies. In fact, his deep concern for his country and countrymen made him mentally crippled. Defeat after defeat turned him so disheartened that he had not the least hope of regaining his kingdom. In such a mental state, once he was lying in the cave.

Suddenly the king saw a spider trying hard to reach the ceiling of the cave. The spider climbing to the ceiling after many unsuccessful attempts. This dauntless spider inspired Robert Bruce to foil despair. He gained new strength and fresh courage. He gathered his forces and fought another battle. This time he fought with new vigor and enthusiasm and was ultimately successful in making his country free. The spider taught Robert Bruce that a relentless worker is always crowned with success. We also learn from this example a great lesson that “Where there is a will, there is a way”.
