If we want to stay strong and healthy, it’s important to improve our diet. A healthy diet comprises a combination of different foods. These include:

  • Staples like cereals (wheat, barley, rye, maize, or rice) or starchy tubers or roots (potato, yam, taro, or cassava).
  • Legumes (lentils and beans).
  • Fruit and vegetables.
  • Foods from animal sources (meat, fish, eggs, and milk).

Nutrients can be obtained in many foods and thousands of diet plans. It is important that people watch their intake of diet plans. Having an unhealthy diet can be a major risk factor for a number of chronic diseases including high blood pressure, obesity, and diabetes.

But we have to eat vegetables and fruits too. They contain a lot of vitamins and minerals. They keep our body free from diseases. They are also good for our skin and overall health. We also need to drink milk every day. Milk is highly rich in calcium. It’s good for our healthy growth. It makes our bones and teeth strong as well. The Daily intake guidelines are the amounts and percentages of fats, proteins, carbs, etc. that a person should intake every day for healthy eating. These guidelines are based on our weight; for example, a person who weighs 100 lbs. would need fewer carbs than a person who weighs 200 lbs.  It is also based on our level of physical activity, height, and age. We must drink pure water at regular intervals too. It’s essential for our body. We can’t live without drinking water.
