Aeronautical Engineering was the original term for the field but as flight technology advanced to add craft operating in outer space, the broader time period “aerospace engineering” provides largely replaced it in keeping usage. Aerospace architectural, particularly the astronautics side, is often termed as “rocket science”. It is divided into two major and overlapping branches: aeronautical engineering and astronautical engineering.
